AlphaTheta XDJ-AN is HERE! My Thoughts on the New All-In-One DJ Controller.

AlphaTheta just introduced the new XDJ-AN, an entry-level all-in-one DJ system designed for DJs who want to enter the AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ ecosystem.

In this quick Music Gear Mondays episode, I’m sharing my first thoughts on the XDJ-AN while I’m on the road.

A few features immediately stand out to me.

The Hot Cue buttons are now positioned above the jog wheels, creating a layout that feels more similar to the CDJ-3000. The XDJ-AN also includes professional XLR outputs instead of limiting DJs to RCA connections.

It works with rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, and djay Pro, giving DJs several software options. It also includes streaming capabilities, built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and a brighter screen.

At an entry price of around $1,000, it offers a lot for DJs who want a standalone system and eventually plan to perform on professional CDJ setups.

There are also a few possible drawbacks.

AlphaTheta is continuing to push DJs toward USB-C. DJs who still use traditional USB-A drives may need to update their drives or use an adapter.

The XDJ-AN also has one USB storage connection located on the back of the unit. That may be less convenient for DJ changeovers compared to the dual USB ports found on the XDJ-RR.

Overall, I think the XDJ-AN could be a good option for anyone who wants to enter the AlphaTheta all-in-one ecosystem, organize their music in rekordbox, and prepare for performing on club-standard equipment.
